The country's animation industry, despite its considerable history, faces structural and institutional problems. Among the most important institutional problems of the animation industry is the lack of a designated steward and, as a result, the multiplicity of legislative bodies and organizations in this field, which has destroyed coordination and synergy among stakeholders in the industry, such that the effectiveness of development decisions and activities in the industry has declined because of a lack of coordination among stakeholders.
Also, the shortage or absence of institutions in the animation industry's areas of activity has meant that domestic animation products, in quantitative and qualitative terms, have not had the capacity to meet international standards and are not competitive with similar foreign products.
Accordingly, in this book the mapping of institutions and stakeholders active in the country's animation industry has been drawn and analyzed. This mapping in fact displays how organizations and institutions are positioned and how they communicate and interact with one another. Drawing and analyzing this mapping has made it possible, while examining institutional gaps and problems in various areas of the industry, also to examine and analyze communication weaknesses among institutions.
In the first chapter, first a brief account of the foundations of mapping and its types, and especially the method of drawing an institutional map, is set out. In the second chapter, the institutional mapping of stakeholders, institutions, and organizations active in the animation industry is examined. In the third chapter, by summarizing the results of analyzing the institutional map that was drawn, institutional gaps, challenges, and problems are examined.
It is hoped that this book, as a source for explaining the current state of the animation industry's institutional structure, can be used as a guide for remedying shortcomings.
The present book is the fifth volume in the series of books on Iran's animation industry, written with the aim of explaining the institutional structure of the animation industry.
